A DREAM HOUSE

The value of our houses has become more important nowadays because our home is a place where you can find refuge and rest after long, crazy working days; home is something intimate and private. My point of view is that our home must be our castle but to create such a castle you should make much effort and use all your fantasy.
As for me if I had enough money to buy my own house I would prefer to choose a bungalow on the bank of any river or lake. It would be a spacious, modern detached bungalow, I mean with some modern tendencies in style and in interior, with one luxurious living-room, a dining-room, a kitchen, a bedroom, a bathroom and a toilet.
Entering the front door of my dream bungalow you find yourself in the living-room which combines modern and classical styles. The walls are painted white which gives you a feeling of relief and relaxation. The focal point of this room is the fireplace, in which a coal-fire blazes cheerfully, with some statuettes on it, which are made of ivory. The walnut bookcases on either side of the fireplace are full of books and magazines, which may be re-arranged according to your taste. An elegant three-piece suite, made of white leather and consisting of a sofa and two armchairs, is just opposite the right-hand bookcase. All the tables are P-figurative in shape, which recur to the form of the fireplace, and make the feeling of harmony stronger. There stands a vase with three white roses on the table which is nearer to the left-hand bookcase. The floor is covered with thick, cream carpet on the top of linoleum, creating a feeling of newly-falling snow. As you have noticed there isn’t much furniture here and it is the best place for meeting your guests in this house.
As the focal point of my living-room is the fireplace so the focal point of my house is the bedroom. The bedroom is smaller than the living-room and it carries us away to the times of Queen Victoria. A rectangular double-sized bed, made of light green oak, perfectly suits the antique mirror, which is not in-expensive. The bedroom is heated by a built-in fireplace, which is square in shape and made of stone. A French window opens onto a small back yard with various kinds of roses. There is an oak writing-table near the window where you can study or read some (classical) literature (if you need). Just opposite the wall with the fireplace and the mirror above it there is an old-fashioned, polished wardrobe, which supplements the ensemble of this room. The floor is covered with parquet. This room might seem rather gloomy because of such a strong classical style of Queen Victoria’s times but the day light, which penetrates into every corner of the bedroom, makes it more graceful and luxurious. In the evening the room is usually lit up by lots of beeswax candles. There are also some built-in bookshelves of V-shape near the fireplace.
The kitchen is neither large nor small, it is of medium size and the space is used very efficiently. The walls and the ceiling are painted white. Various kinds of kitchen furniture are conveniently arranged in a line around two walls. The walnut dining-table with some chairs is just in the center of my kitchen and there are some white soft cushions on these chairs. All the cupboards with glass doors, the new electric cooker and the sink unit with its stainless steel sink and draining-board and gleaming taps are built in the furthest wall of the kitchen. Just opposite this wall there are two small windows with a white Venetian blind (jalousie) on them which opens out onto the picturesque river or lake. The kitchen is lit by the cone-shaped lamp which hangs over the table. A refrigerator and a dish-washer are near the other wall. There is a built-in colour TV-set between the dish-washer and the refrigerator here, that’s why you can not only cook breakfast or dinner but also watch your favourite programme. The floor is covered with white check pattern. Near the refrigerator there is a chest of drawers made of light oak in which cutlery, table-cloths, serviettes and crockery are kept.
The bathroom walls are tiled in white with grey pattern. The wash-basin, the lavatory and the bath itself are white in colour and made of the same style to create a feeling of unity and harmony. There are two small windows above the bath. Gaily-coloured face flannels are hung under the side of the wash-basin and above it there is a built-in, square in shape, sideboard which may be turned into a rectangular mirror. The floor is also tiled in white and the ceiling is painted white and grey. This room is lightened by two lamps.
You see, I’ve tried to combine various kinds of styles in my dream bungalow: from classical to modern one. Without doubt it is very expensive to create such a house and a great sum of money would be required to buy this house, not less than 5,000 POUNDS.
