Music is another character in a film, stressing the emotions while setting the mood of the film itself. The project was a labor of love with "The Lord of the Rings Trilogy", featuring the Academy Award winning scores by composer Howard Shore with suites from "The Fellowship of the Ring", "The Two Towers", and "The Return of the King".
Howard Shore is a good-humored Canadian, who for some reason writes music mostly for scary movies. And his latest piece, the brilliant symphony for screening one of the most popular books ever written - Tolkien`s The Lord of the Rings, which has been richly awarded with three Oscars, two Grammys and Golden Globes for his work on the films.
H. Shore has written original scores for more than 60 Hollywood films, and has now transformed the music which he wrote for LOTR trilogy into a six-part symphony for orchestra, choir and soloists. The music is accompanied by original art from Tolkien`s illustrators, Alan Lee and John Howe on huge screens. To make the soundtrack as thunderous and tremendous as it is, Shore got many different people involved: Samoa & New Zealand inhabitans for dwarves and so on. After the release of the Return of the King, Shore went on a world tour with the symphony. For this purpose he had left 2 hours from the original 10. Since it`s impossible to travel around the world with such a huge group of musicians, in each country Shore has to ask for assistance of history and everyone except the maestro himself would have a hard time capturing the same magic with a different orchestra.orchestras. In Moscow this will be the National Philharmonic Orchestra of Russia & the Choir of Academy of Choral Art.
There is also CD-The Lord of the Rings Orchestral Suite. The CD contains 5 tracks which can all be previewed at MP3.
Howard Shore has without a doubt create something that can only be described as the most powerful and thematically complex movie score in
Howard Shore is probably one of the most underrated composers around today. He manages to capture the films drawing power, a well as it`s emotional impact, vastness of the mountains and scenery with passages interwoven themes, joined by a chorus of haunting melodies. I think, if you`re not absolutely nut about H. Shore`s LOTR scores, you`d better definitely skip this one and go straight for the original.
