the 77th Annual Academy Awards:
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences honored this year's
Oscar contenders at its annual Nominees Luncheon on February 7, at the
Beverly Hilton Hotel.
Sixteen of the 19 nominees in the acting categories were among some
113 nominees from 24 categories who gathered at noon for the
traditional pre-Academy Awards fete when the Academy of Motion
Picture Arts and Sciences honored this year's Oscar contenders.
The 77th Academy Awards will be presented on Sunday, February 27,
2005, and will be telecast live from the Kodak Theatre at Hollywood
& Highland by the ABC Television Network at 5 p.m. PST,
beginning with a half-hour arrivals segment.
United Airlines Flight #854, "The Flight of the Oscars®," arrived in
Los Angeles February 11, 2005, carrying a cargo of 50 Oscar®
statuettes for the 77th Academy Awards®.
Nominations for the 77th Annual Academy Awards were announced
onTuesday, January 25 by Academy of Motion Picture Arts and
Sciences President Frank Pierson and Oscar®-winning actor Adrien Brody.
Oscar's grassroots charity program, Oscar Night America, is now in
its second decade and has raised over $12 million for local charities
around the United States.
Gilbert Cates has his 12th assignment as producer of the annual
Academy Awards telecast, Academy President Frank Pierson announced.
